What makes healthcare data different.
One patient can appear in the EHR, the lab system, scheduling, billing, and claims, with a different ID in each. FHIR makes it easier to move data between those systems. It doesn’t tell you which records are the same person, or who is allowed to see them.
Duplicate patient and member records cause billing errors and missed outreach. The provider directory is wrong again a month after the last cleanup. Quality and value-based care reports take weeks to assemble by hand. AI ideas stall because nobody can say which data they may use or how it is protected.
