About

An independent data and AI consultancy.

We are engineers and consultants who have spent our careers inside enterprise data. We started Datagist to build AI on data that is ready for it.

The name

Why Datagist.

The Datagist mark: three lines converging on a single point, with one line continuing out.

The name joins two words. Data is what you already have. The gist is the part of it that matters, the few facts that answer the question in front of you.

Most companies have plenty of data. The trouble is that it sits in many systems, and each one describes the same customer a little differently. Read on its own, a single record says very little. Finding the gist means bringing those records together and working out which version is true.

Our tagline

Your data, in context.

Context is what turns a number into an answer. It tells you where the number came from, what it is matched to, who owns it and whether it is still current. That is the work we do. We connect your sources, settle the conflicts between them and give each one an owner, so the people and the AI models that use the data can trust what it says.

The mark tells the same story. Three lines start in different places and meet at one point. One line carries on past it, the way a clear answer moves your business forward.

What to expect

Working with us.

Senior people do the work.

The people in your first meeting are the people who build the system, and they stay until your team can run it.

AI writes much of the code.

Our engineers work with AI coding agents every day. Every line an agent writes gets the same review as a person’s, which lets a small team move like a much larger one.

We recommend what fits.

We do not resell software, so the tool we suggest is the one we think suits you. Sometimes that is the one you already own.

We know what auditors ask.

Some of us have run security and compliance programs at large companies, so we design for those questions from the first day.

Who we work with

The people who answer for data and AI.

  • Chief Data and AI Officers getting the data ready for their AI plans
  • CIOs and CTOs replacing aging data platforms
  • CISOs and compliance leads who have to approve AI before it goes live
  • Business and finance leaders who want to see a return on data spending

A lot of our work is in regulated industries, where a data error can mean a fine or a recall.
